Rabby® Wallet — Extension®
The Rabby Wallet Extension offers a browser-based wallet experience designed to make Web3 interactions, decentralized finance …

Rabby Wallet Extension is an open-source, non-custodial crypto wallet built specifically for Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks. Unlike general-purpose wallets that treat multi-chain support as an add-on, Rabby is designed from the ground up for DeFi users who regularly interact with decentralized applications across multiple chains. Its defining feature is a pre-transaction simulation that shows you exactly how your balances will change before you sign anything, along with automatic network switching that eliminates the common error of sending funds on the wrong chain.
Installation and Setup
The extension is available exclusively from the official website, rabby.io, and supports Chrome, Brave, and Edge on desktop; it is not compatible with mobile browsers . After installation, the onboarding flow gives you two paths: create a new address or import an existing one. Creating a new wallet requires setting a password that encrypts local data—Rabby does not store this password, so forgetting it means resetting the extension entirely. You are then prompted to back up your 12-word seed phrase, which is the only way to recover your assets if your device is damaged or browser data is lost .
For users migrating from MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or OKX, the import process is straightforward. You can enter your existing seed phrase or private key, or connect a hardware wallet from a broad list including Ledger, Trezor, OneKey, Keystone, GridPlus, and BitBox02 . Once imported, Rabby automatically detects and displays your tokens, NFTs, and DeFi positions across all supported EVM chains without manual configuration .
The Core Advantage: Transaction Simulation and Security
Rabby’s most distinctive feature is its pre-transaction risk scanning. Before you confirm any transaction, the extension simulates the outcome and presents a clear breakdown of what you will lose and what you will receive, including any balance changes . This is particularly valuable in DeFi, where complex interactions can have unintended consequences. The extension also displays safety data when you connect to a DApp: which platforms have listed the site, its traffic popularity, whether Rabby has flagged it as malicious, and a custom “My mark” label you can set to trust or block a site . If a risk is detected, the Connect button is disabled by default, requiring you to explicitly ignore the warning to proceed .
Another practical security feature is automatic network switching. When you connect to a DApp on a specific chain, Rabby detects the required network and switches to it automatically, reducing the risk of signing a transaction on the wrong chain . The extension supports hundreds of EVM networks, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Base, Avalanche, zkSync Era, Linea, and Scroll .
DApp Compatibility and Hardware Wallets
Rabby is designed to work seamlessly with existing DApp interfaces. If a site does not list Rabby directly, you can select MetaMask and Rabby will intercept the connection through a compatibility mode, which can be enabled in Settings if it is not active by default . This means you do not lose access to any EVM application by switching wallets.
Hardware wallet support is native and robust. The extension connects to Ledger via USB and to Trezor and other devices through their respective connection methods . For Ledger users, Rabby provides a streamlined signing experience with fewer connection errors, and you can add multiple addresses from the same device by adjusting the HD path or starting index .
Mobile Sync and Practical Considerations
If you also use Rabby on mobile, you can sync your extension wallets without manually re-entering seed phrases. The Mobile Sync feature generates an encrypted QR code on your desktop that you scan with the mobile app, transferring your selected addresses securely while keeping the sensitive data offline during the process .
One important caveat: Rabby is an EVM-only wallet. It does not support Bitcoin, Solana, or other non-EVM chains. If your portfolio spans multiple ecosystems, you will need a separate wallet for those assets. For users whose activity is concentrated in Ethereum and its Layer 2s and sidechains, however, Rabby offers a focused, security-conscious experience that prioritizes clarity before signing over breadth of asset support.
